SHERI ISHMAEL-WALDROP
Photography is her passion. And that passion is an evolution of her vision of the world in which she records tiny moments of time.
Sheri's love of photography began with a Polaroid camera and photographs of family members. While attending Oklahoma's Tulsa County Vocational Technical School Photography Program during high school, she learned the art of photographic composition, the processing of film, custom printing, and hand dying and restoration of old or damaged images. This passion continued to grow as she moved from the educational facet to real life application.
After working in the studio setting for several years, Sheri decided to move out of the camera room and into the community. Wanting to experience the world around her and bring it to others, she enrolled as a journalism student at the local junior college and then went on to Oklahoma State University.
While at OSU, in addition to the core classes, she attended art classes to develop creativity and appreciation of a variety of artistic techniques. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1993, Sheri worked at four Oklahoma newspapers where her photojournalism skills were recognized by state and national journalistic organizations. Sheri’s career is now evolving as she discovers an artistic side in fine art photography. The challenge of seeing an image in her mind and transforming that vision into a piece of art has taken over her life.
The evolution continues with each click of the shutter.
